About us
With support from the ESRC’s North West Social Science DTP, ‘Methods North West’ aims to become a regional hub for research methods innovation, celebrating the collective strength, depth and breadth of methodological expertise across the participating Universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster and Keele.
MethodsNW will bring together social science researchers at all levels and by providing a network for collaborations between staff and research students across all four institutions we hope to facilitate the development of new communities of practice around research methods.
Opportunities for PGRs
Our partner institutions provide high quality training to their PGR students. Methods North West aims to add value by:
- Creating opportunities for students to access the research methods expertise of world-leading researchers across partner institutions.
- Enabling access to advanced and specialist training not otherwise available in any one institution
- Developing a programme of events throughout the year, aimed primarily at doctoral students. These events are styled and targeted to provide something a little different to the standards methods training.
Methods North West is currently directed by Dr Stuart Shields from the University of Manchester.
